NATURES KNOCKOUT

You've heard us talk about Natures Knockout before and if you follow us on twitter or facebook, you have seen us rave about Laurie and Tiffany. We have had the opportunity to join these guys on their adventures in film and have had some really fun, emotional and even spooky experiences with these two.

Today we want to officially introduce our friends to you.

Laurie and Tiffany recently started their new company called Natures Knockout when Tiffany was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. But I'll let them tell you the story themselves...

Since then, Natures Knockout has blown up and has become the go to site for all things natural beauty.

They have a lot of instructional videos for hair and makeup as well as instructions on how to read and understand ingredients. They are fun and easy to follow.
On the blog, you will find posts on all the great deals out there to feed your shopping craves as well as behind the scenes on some of their most memorable projects.

We have tried some of the stuff they have shared and are trying ourselves to be more cautious of the products that our team uses on our clients.

Seattle

Morgan and I flew out to Seattle WA a couple of weekends back for an audition to become educators for Davines Hair Color. We are so obsessed with this color line we wanted to represent and help others fall in love with it as much as we have.

We were in training during the day but at night we checked out Seattle. My best bud from beauty school just happens to own one of the hottest salons in Seattle (Source Salon in Ballard) so she was our tour guide for the weekend. It was such a blast. We stood at the top of the Space Needle, placed our gum on the gum wall, ate some amazing food, watch the sunset on Alki beach and got a private tour of Pikes Place.

Seattle is gorgeous! Reminds me of southern Cali with pine trees instead of palm trees. I would of never thought I had to wear a coat in the middle of June but disregarding the weather, this trip was such a blast.

As fate would have it, both Morgan and I got the job. We are so excited to be a part of Davines and look forward to our growth with them!

Carissa - wedding

As mentioned previously, we had the chance to be a part of Carissa's wedding. She photographed extraordinarily in her bridals yet decided to do a different look for her wedding. I thought we were going to change up the whole thing but she actually just wanted her hair in a side pony instead of pulled back. I actually managed to get a before and after shot!

A couple of weeks ago I posted on twitter that I had the opportunity to be a part of a really great maternity shoot.

I love all things couples but specially babies! Its not everyday I get to take part in something like this, so for me it was a real honor.

Donna called us to get her all dolled up for her shoot. During the trial she asked me to accompany her to her shoot to make sure everything went perfect. I was so excited. When I saw her get into the Utah Lake, I knew her photography was going to be amazing

Donna has got to be the hottest mamma I've ever seen and one of the coolest people I've ever met! I thank her from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to take part in such an intimate moment in her life.

She's not finding out what she's having until baby arrives. I can't wait to hear what she ends up having.

CELEBRATE!! One of my best buddies is engaged!

Today I just want to share my joy for one of my best friends who just recently got engaged.

Dave, Lesley and I all used to hang out in HS. Last year, they reconnected and he swept her off her feet and well... you can figure out what happened next.

Lesley and Dave are scheduled to be married this December. I can't hardly wait for this wedding.

BULLY BEATDOWN SEASON 3

I had the chance to come back for season 3 of Bully Beatdown, the crazy MTV show where bullies get the crap beat out of them by MMA fighters. Never seen or heard of the show? check it out here.

This season was crazy. I laughed, I cried, & undoubtedly had a great time. Jason was crazier than ever, the crew was a riot, and I LOVED working with Kathleen and Nancy again. We really had a great time.

Heres some pics for you all. I have some behind the scene video that I will try to get up soon ( soon meaning sometime before the end of the year ;D its wedding season. lol.)

Featured - Carissa

Carissa contacted us a while back to take part in her wedding. Because she was from out of state, it made it difficult to arrange for a trial session so we had to hit her look spot on the first time around.

She brought several pictures as her inspiration pieces and we decided on a very vintage hairdo that was sculpted and very intricate. Stephanie gave her golden eyes with a pink lip that tied everything together perfectly.

For her wedding, Carissa has sent a new set of photos for a more modern, fresh and fun look. So I will have a whole new Carissa to show you next time around!

I've been dying to show off Scott Jarvie's work so Im glad he ok'd me to use these. If I could describe his stuff in one word it would be breathtaking.

We are excited for Carissas wedding this tuesday when she will marry her childhood sweetheart. Their story is the sweetest thing you'd ever heard.

Mask of Redemption, Vampired, Carissa and a photoshoot for Branches Floral Design

I was back on the set of Mask of Redemption with Tiffany these last two weeks. Laurie moved to Portland :( so I had the chance to come out and assist Tiffany. What a crazy fun show this was. I learned so much, specially what not to do on a synthetic wig.

Heres the deal with the wig....

Lauren Holly was the leading actress in this show. Due to some horse mishaps from previous shots, they needed to use a double in one of the scenes that would involve the horse for the safety of Ms. Holly. So it was called upon me to recreate a wig that her double would use. Because of the low budget of the film, I got a synthetic wig to work with. Not our preference but whatever I went straight to work. I spent a good 10 hours trying to put curl into that wig but the wig would not have it. (if your my friend on facebook you now know what the "cynthia vs the wig" post was all about).

Well, after about 10 hours, I finally got it to work but unfortunately within 15 min of pulling out the set that was in it, the weight of the hair pulled most of the curl out. I could re-set the wig but they would have to get the shot within 15 minutes of placing the wig on the double. Not happening! Well, just as we were about to give up, call it good and wrap for the evening, Tiffany pulls out another wig that has curl already in it and after much thought, once again, I went straight to work. I hand painted the wig and tried to pull as much curl out of it to make it look nappy to match Lauren's hair. Im not going to even be polite but after about 2 hours, that wig looked good. Of course, as fate would have it, the director decided to pull the horse out of the shot and used Lauren instead of a double and... I have yet to burn the wig.

I met a lot of great people and of course having the chance to meet and work with Lauren Holly was amazing. She is the nicest, most kind, sweet and caring person I have met and worked with.

I had the chance to reconnect with some very talented hairdressers on this show who rocked the 100+ extras we had to work with!

The Producer said that this was the best looking set of extras they had seen in any western movie.

Tiffany was amazing to work with and over all it was a really great experience.

Heres a shot of one of the sets for a boxing scene, those are some of the extras we all styled in the background.

Tiffany got some really awesome behind the scenes with Lauren. Ill be sure to link it to her site once she's got it up for you guys to see. Its hilarious. You will fall in love with Lauren Holly when you see it.

Mark decided to extend his short film so I had the chance to go back for a second set of Vampired. He added some scenes and took the film a different direction. I was laughing my head off. The cast, the crew and even Mark was so funny on this show. I had a BLAST! Definitely one of the most fun film shoots I've done.

As for the brides we have been doing, I have been taking pictures but leave it to me to misplace the cord that lets me download them to the computer. So heres a shot of Carissa off my phone. For me, this is the hottest vintage hair to date I've done. I love the design she wanted, and I love the way it turned out. Stephanie rocked her makeup. You can't see the intricacy of it in these photos but it was gorgeous. She used pinks and golds that made Carissa look fab.

Speaking of talent, I just met Amanda owner of Branches. She's a flower designer joining the Utah wedding scene. She contacted me about collaborating on a photoshoot and of course, I never skip out on an opportunity to collaborate with talented people. Her model (who had never modeled before) was SO beautiful. She and I learned that we had something very dear in common. If she ever reads this, THANK YOU for loving your job. Its people like you that bring hope and comfort and ease a lot of stress for people like me. I appreciate and love you for it. Thank's for letting me get crazy with you!
